Richmond, IN— July 28, 2008 — The Wayne County Treasurer’s Office wants to remind taxpayers that they have several different options for making tax payments: in person at the Wayne Co. Treasurer’s office at 401 E Main St. in Richmond (or in the drop-box located on the west side of the annex office building); by U.S. mail; or with an American Express®, Discover®, MasterCard® or VISA® credit card via the internet or over the telephone. Credit and debit cards may also be used at the Treasurer’s office to make a payment. The County has contracted with Point & Pay, a third party vendor, to operate as an extension of their customer support and payment processing services.
This service gives residents a flexible, secure method of making payments conveniently and on time. Depending upon individual card benefits, cardholders can earn rewards such as airline miles or other bonuses when paying their taxes with a credit card.
As a reminder, Wayne County first half tax payments are due on August 22nd. Residents can make an online payment by going to http://co.wayne.in.us/treasurer/index.html and clicking the Pay Taxes Online link. Taxpayers can also dial toll-free (866) 606-6402 to make a payment over the phone. To make a payment, taxpayers will need a Parcel ID Number, credit or debit card information, and the amount of the tax that will be paid. A convenience fee of 2.95% will be calculated and charged for credit card transactions.
Since 1999, Point & Pay has offered taxpayers the ease of fulfilling payment obligations in real-time, conveniently and securely from anywhere with Internet or phone access.
