Albany, Oregon — October 27, 2008 — The Linn County Tax Assessment and Collection reminds residents of their ability to make tax payments online or over the phone. For added convenience, taxpayers may use an American Express®, Discover®, MasterCard® or VISA® credit card, debit card or electronic check to make a payment. The Agency has contracted with Point & Pay, a third party vendor, to operate as an extension of the County’s customer support and payment processing services.
“Point & Pay gives the taxpayers of Linn County more flexibility in how they choose to make payments,” said Mark Noakes, Linn County Assessor and Tax Collector. “It not only extends payment hours to 24 per day, seven days a week, but allows patrons to extend payment terms using their own line of credit.”
Depending upon individual card benefits, cardholders can even earn rewards such as airline miles or other bonuses when paying their taxes with a credit card. The service gives residents a flexible, secure method of making payments conveniently and on time.
Linn County bills were mailed on Friday, October 24th and are due on Monday, the 17th of November. Residents can make an online payment by going to www.co.linn.or.us, clicking Departments/Services and selecting the Tax Collector home page. Taxpayers can also dial toll-free (866) 606-6404 to make a payment. Information requested will include a property identification number, credit/debit card or checking account information, and the amount of the tax that is to be paid. A nominal fee is calculated and charged for this convenient service.Since 1999, Point & Pay has offered taxpayers the ease of fulfilling payment obligations in real-time, conveniently and securely from anywhere with Internet or phone access.
“Credit card, Debit card and E-check payments continue to rise in popularity, reflecting the trend of using electronic payment methods instead of traditional, paper-based options,” said Joshua Rush, Director of Marketing for Point & Pay. “We are excited to offer this convenient payment option to the citizens of Linn County.”
