XENIA, Ohio — 13 February 2009 — The Greene County Treasurer has announced that residents can now make tax payments over the phone, in addition to online and at the agency’s office. For added convenience, taxpayers may use an American Express®, Discover®, MasterCard® or VISA® credit card or debit card to make a payment. Greene County has contracted with Point & Pay, a third party vendor, to operate as an extension of their customer support and payment processing services.
“Point & Pay gives the taxpayers more flexibility in how they choose to make payments,” said Greene County Treasurer James Schmidt.
The new service gives residents a flexible, secure method of making payments conveniently and on time. Depending upon individual card benefits, cardholders can even earn rewards such as airline miles or other bonuses when paying their taxes with their credit card. Real estate taxes are due February 27, 2009.
In addition to being able to pay using the internet at www.co.greene.oh.us and clicking on the payment links under the ePayment & Account Information heading in the lower left of the page, residents can now also make a payment using an automated phone system by dialing toll-free (866) 739-0474 and following the prompts.
Information requested will include a Parcel ID, Registration or File Number, credit or debit card details, and the amount of the tax that is to be paid. A fee of 2.95% of the payment is calculated and charged for this convenient service.
“Credit card and debit card payments continue to rise in popularity, reflecting the trend of using electronic payment methods instead of traditional, paper-based options,” said Treasurer Schmidt. Point & Pay not only extends payment hours to 24 per day, seven days a week, but allows residents to extend payment terms using their own line of credit.
